Armin Mersmann Drawing by golfiscool Armin Mersmann Drawing by golfiscool
Done finally!! I spent such a long time on this, it's nice to finally see it finished. This is a drawing I did of the fantastically brilliant In the 3 years I've been drawing, I have really looked up to him as an artist. Whenever I am in need of inspiration, a quick look at his gallery is all it takes to get back on track. The cool part is that he lives in Michigan also so I've had the opportunity to see alot of his work in person!! It's even more brilliant seeing it beyond a computer screen. I really put alot of effort into this one because I was motivated all the way through the drawing. This is one of the biggest and most in depth drawings I've ever done. I hope everyone likes it. Thank you for all the WIP comments. I appreciated each and every one.

How do you first outline your character's head and find the right area for the facial planes, is it mostly a guess that is checked later with a compass?

It's nice to see one artist draw another. This is just excellent! The detail, the intensity in those eyes. Amazing.

Amazing drawing of an amazing artist.. And just out of curiosity I want to try the Fabriano Hot Press paper.. How rough is the back side of this paper.. I am a Bristol user right now.. Thanks ;)

Umm... and now I just looked at who your inspiration was... and now the bar went through the roof... you did freaking awsome at replicating his detail though, I don't know if I'll ever want to draw again haha
Dantheman9758 Featured By Owner Apr 25, 2007  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I didn't know people could draw this good with just graphite, this is like as close to artist chuck close's super realism style as I've ever seen, and you did it with PENCILS... you just raised the bar for me by a LONG shot....

Oh man! This is a wonderful drawing. Your eye goes right to his haha. It's very realistic and amazingly done.. I especially love his nails for some reason. Anyway, great job. I'm sure he'll be more than proud.

Thats amazing.

I heard about retractable erasers and was going to buy one until someone said electric erasers were better...
and Im mainly getting it for fine peices of hair.

Looking at your work I definetly trust your judgment and I was wondering which one you prefer or advise?
