I had the idea for this just as I was about to fall asleep one night. I instantly jumped out of bed and scribbled down a sketch onto a scrap piece of paper. If you've ever seen JD Hillberry's pencil drawings, they were a huge influence also. But I wanted to see how realistic I could get with this. Everything is drawn that you see, the wood frame, the cards, the pencil, and the eraser. I am really getting sick of my scanner these days because it puts horizontal lines on my drawings. These are not there in reality, it's smooth tone transitions. If anyone knows how to get rid of these please let me know.
Interesting. Yeah it does remind me of an "assignment", so to speak. Its really cool though.
you used, as usual, a variety of your pencils. I find it hard to determine at what point which is more useful. Could you give an example how you determine that?
Thanks. Yeah, I use 3B for dark areas on the drawing like the pencil. The wood is actually 3B also but it's blended and I didn't press down as hard. The background around the cards is blended B. The string that is attached to the pencil is 5H. Then the 2H was just used to clean up edges in places.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P

The most beautiful thing in the world is, OF COURSE, the world itself.
