Well guys, it's finally done. I have spent the better part of May on this drawing. I think it took me about 3 weeks to complete. I can't say that I worked on it everyday because that would be a lie. I've been outside soaking up the nice weather which prevented me from finishing it earlier. This is a portrait I drew of my friends Kenny and Jennie. They are getting married in October and they always expressed interest in my drawings. So I figured that would be an appropriate wedding gift. It will also help me out because it's being presented at their reception which will hopefully get me some more commissions. I have been friends with both of them since high school. Kenny and I were always the rebelious teenagers. I can remember the first time I met him was in gym class my sophomore year in high school. We were both being punished for something and we had to sit out that day and write papers instead of doing physical activities with the rest of the class. Jennie was a friend that went to a different school than I but we always hung out too.
I really tried to capture some of their personality in this drawing. This drawing was really fun for me to do because I know they will really appreciate it. I know that when the move into their house, this will be hung above the fireplace. After I started the drawing, they asked me if I could include something that signified their wedding. What better than 2 wedding rings? So I had them over to my house last night and they brought their wedding rings with them. I took a bunch of reference pictures. Obviously, there was no way to interlock them together like they are in the drawing but I thought it might be a nice touch.
Overall, I am happy with the way this drawing turned out. I hope it's cherished for years to come.
really nice picture and a great idea to for a gift, really like the rings at the bottom right as well how they're linked, you can get a feel of the peoples personalities too, really good stuff!
It's so beautiful. This is definately one of my fave graphite drawings (of all time!) I hope you get loads of commissions later, you really deserve it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
