Artist's Comments

Well it's done. I am really happy with the outcome of this. I think it may be one of my most realistic still life drawings to date. And the fact that it's in color really makes me more confident. I tried to take my time and truely see what colors to use on this and I think it paid off. The color laydown could have been a little more smooth but I will get that right next time.

I chose to draw this last week while eating a reeses peanut butter cup that was left over from halloween. I thought it would be interesting to see how the candy wrapper reclected in a metal surface so I chose a pepsi can for the metal. I used TONS of different colors on this and most of the work will probably go overlooked to someone not experienced with colored pencils.

Great Job! Very inspiring, especially since I'm working on my first colored portrait (I know, it's not still life) And I'm using a full prismacolor set :)

I am sorry to add to this again, but if I have this right, you didn't work from a photograph did you? With it saying "Still life" and reading that you had pepsi and reese's, I'm assuming you just worked of of the two objects just sitting there?

Yeah, I worked from a photograph and from life. I had it set up on my computer desk but I also had a photo reference that I took.
