I have seen alot of people mixing graphite and colored pencil lately so I figured I would give it a shot too. I have no idea how I came up with this idea but I knew I had to do something with it. JD Hillberry did a self portrait a long time ago which portrayed himself looking through the paper much like this drawing. His drawing was a big inspiration for this. I used a reference picture for the self portrait in the middle. No reference for the 2 other scenes, which felt good to just experiment. I am happy with the way this one turned out. I worked very hard on it. It's the biggest drawing I've ever done too.

14"x20" Fabriano Hotpress
Prismacolor CP's, 3B, F, HB pencils
tissue, blending stumps, q-tips for blending

I like this quite a bit. It's a very old, perhaps even cliche concept, but this is a really innovative take on that idea. I think it's gorgeous.

How could you be so heartless?
J.D. Hillberry rocks! :D Very beautifully done, a very nice example of trompe l'oeil

I agree with Raven Golf you did a great job on this. especially the expression and wow...I love the way the coloring turned out as well. You should certainly matted and frame this one. It's a lovely peice of art.

The decision to kiss for the first time is the most crucial in any love story. It changes the relationship of two people much more strongly than even the final surrender; because this kiss already has within it that surrender.

This is incredible! The facial features are so realistic, that I almost had to give it a second look to see if it was actually pencil. I wish I had the control that you do! I love the blending of colored pencil and graphite too. It gives the art so much more...i dunno...just so much more I guess. Great work!!
Have a lovely night! :D

::a way to tell you that i love you::

GO SEATTLE MARINERS!
Definitely one of your better, if not best piece.... people will be amazed by this more than a celeb portrait you spend 500 hours on. The 3d quality of you coming thru the paper is really great. I vote for a dark mat/frame.
Thanks man, your last drawing was the inspiration for this if you didn't know. I loved the way the black and white people looked with the rest of the drawing colored. Yeah, I like this alot more than a shitty celeb portrait too. Thanks alot.
